Lake Tekapo Early Childhood Centre

The Lake Tekapo Bright Stars Community Trust was set up to oversee the development and operation of facilities for the care and education of children and young people in the Lake Tekapo district.

The Lake Tekapo Bright Stars Early Childhood Learning Centre was officially opened by the pre-schoolers who will use it on 22nd September 2017. The former Guild Hall building was upgraded and re-purposed as an education centre which meets MOE standards and will house Kindergarten and Playcentre activities. Penny Wilson, chair of the Bright Stars Community Trust, thanked her fellow trustees, the local community, funders and the local Cooperating Parish who provided the land and old building on long-term lease which allowed the hall to be used for this purpose. Thanks to the vision and fund-raising drive of the local community the facility is now open for business.

This on-going development of the Bright Stars Centre requires the combined energy, skills and talents of all members of the community – fundraising projects, practical building/construction skills, working bees - every contribution makes a difference!
